Poha Idli Recipe, Instant Poha Idli Recipe Aval Idli recipe step by step. This is an instant idli recipe made with coarse idli rava (rice rava), poha, curd and baking soda. I like to prepare this idli because it does not have soaking, grinding and fermentation.

Instant Poha Idli, Instant idli with idli rava is soft, light, airy and spongy in texture. Mixing baking soda makes it all possible. Instant poha idli is often served with coconut chutney, chana dal chutney or sambar.

At home my all family member like idli and dosa with chutney and sambar as breakfast every day. When I am lazy, I make instant versions of such stuffed idli, rava idli, rava dosa, oats dosa like idli and dosa.

Ingredients for Poha Idli Recipe

1 cup Poha thin / thick variety

1½ cups rice rava / idli rava

2 cups sour yogurt / buttermilk

A pinch of baking soda / eno fruit salt

Water  as required

Salt  as per taste

Oil , to grease idli molds

How to make Poha Idli

Soak 1 cup of poha in curd for 10 - 15 minutes or until it becomes soft. (If poha is not clean then wash with water)

Now using the back of your spoon, mash them well.

Now add 1½ cups of rice rava, 1 cup of curd and water as required.

Mix and let rest for 10 - 15 minutes. Rice rava (idli rava) has to absorb all the water.

Add water to get consistency of idli batter.

Finally add a little salt to taste. Just before steaming add a pinch of baking soda and mix well until it becomes foamy.

Brush the plates with oil and immediately pour the batter into the idli plate. Do not rest the batter.

Like other idlis, you have to steam it for 8-10 minutes on medium heat. Let it rest for 5 minutes then unmold.

Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
