This recipe is similar to the Thepla recipe and has the same color and texture, but has a tomato flavor. It is very easy to make and it is a great recipe for children's lunchboxes, which can be kept in a tiffin with pickle or raita.

Tomato paratha recipe have been an integral part of Indian cuisine and are made on many occasions. The paratha usually made with the filling of vegetables is the most popular. But then there are some different ways in which vegetable puree is added directly to flour and tomato paratha is one such recipe.

Homemade Tomato Paratha Recipe


Not everyone will like making paratha with tomato and people may hesitate to taste it too. Perhaps everyone thinks that paratha simply means bread stuffed with mashed vegetables. Well I understand and believe this, but you can be sure that it is very simple and simple spicy bread and it can be served on any occasion.

Use only cooked and juicy tomatoes for this recipe. You can also use store-bought tomato puree to make this tomato paratha. I have used wheat flour in it to make healthy paratha.But this paratha or roti can also be made from maida. My choice is maida but I have made it with wheat flour to make it healthy and edible.

Ingreidents for Tomato Paratha Recipe


For Masala Paste:

3 tsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp Kasuri Methi
1 onion , finely chopped
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
3 Tomatoes , finely chopped
1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
4 tsp turmeric
½ tsp garam masala

Other Stuff:

1½ cups wheat flour
4 tsp celery
2 tbsp coriander , finely chopped
1 tsp salt
¼ cup of water
Oil , for frying

How to Make Tomato Paratha Recipe


First heat 3 tsp oil in a large pan and fry 1 tsp cumin and 1 tsp kasoori methi till it smells good.

Now add 1 onion, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and fry well.

After this add 3 tomatoes and cook well.

Now mash the tomatoes until they become soft and fluffy.

Add 1 tsp chili powder, ¼ tsp turmeric and ½ tsp garam masala, keeping the heat low.

Now cook it on low heat till it smells.

Cool the mixture and take it out in a large bowl.

Now add 1½ cups wheat flour, ¼ tsp celery, 2 tablespoons coriander and 1 tsp salt.

Now mix them all well so that the spices mix well.

Now add 4 cups or water according to the need and knead it and Knead its soft dough. Keep it covered for 20 minutes.

Now take a small ball shaped dough from it and wrap it in wheat flour and roll it.

After this, roll it as thin as you can, like chapati.

Apply oil on it and sprinkle flour over it. This helps to make it flaky.

Now make a pleat by folding it with the help of fingers.

Now roll this dough like a Swiss roll.

After this, close the end of it by pressing it. Now wrap this rolled ball in wheat flour.

Roll it into a little thick circular shape. Do not roll it too thin because then you will not be able to enjoy its layers.

Now put it on a hot griddle.

After one minute turn it over and let it cook from the other side.

When it starts to turn golden brown from both sides, apply oil on it.

After that turn it over and roast it from both the sides. After this, press the paratha to make layers.

Finally, serve the tomato paratha immediately with hot veg kurma or any favorite curry.
