Prawns Masala Recipe

Prawn masala is an amazing coastal delicacy that delights any non-vegetarian seafood fan. The prawn curry is spicy, tangy and palate-pleasing. Prawns are normally translucent when raw but get their distinctive pink or red color on being cooked. one word of caution – if buying unpeeled prawns, smell for freshness and look for bright, shiny shells that have some spring left in them.

Today I will show you a non-vegetarian dish, it's called prawns dry or masala! But to know how to make it for this you have to keep watching the video.

Ingredients to make Prawns Masala

4 cups prawns
2 finely chopped tomatoes
2 finely chopped onions
Coriander according to a requirement
1 tbsp mix masala/ red chilli powder
Salt according to taste
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
3-4 kokam
1 whole garlic finely chopped
2 tbsp oil
Water

Method

In a Pan heat approximately 2 tbsp of oil.

Now that the oil has heated, I am adding 3/4 tsp asafoetida.

I am adding asafoetida here because it ensures better digestion when eating fish.

Then add 3-4 kokam, 3/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 finely chopped garlic and some coriander.

Adding coriander brings out a nice flavor to the dish.

Now add 2 onions finely chopped and 2 finely chopped tomatoes.

Add salt according to taste. We will add the masala later, first let's saute these ingredients together.

Now that the onions and tomatoes have softened and added the masala and prawns.

Now that I have added the prawns, mix everything well together.

Now that everything is mixed well together, add some water, some coriander and leave the prawns to cook for a couple of minutes.

You can also add chopped potatoes or drumsticks to the prawns masala as a variation.
Add crushed garlic with red chill powder or a paste of crushed garlic, coriander, and green chilies.

It is a very quick method of making prawns. But you can make it anyway you like. So now let's add some water for the prawns to cook.

But in case you want to make a gravy, you can add more water and add some coriander.
Now cover the prawns with a lid to ensure they cook for 3-4 minutes under the steam.

The prawns masala is ready.
The prawns masala is best eaten with hot-hot chapatis, bhakris, some hot-hot rice or bread.
