Modak is a popular dessert that is made on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharashtra. However, in today's time, steamed modak, fried modak, chocolate modak and dry fruit modak are seen and all have their own distinct taste. On the occasion of Ganesh Utsav, most people like to make modak at home, so this time you can also make them at home with this simple recipe and offer shriganesh. Lord Ganesha will be happy and fulfill all your wishes.

Ingredients for Modak Recipe


1 cup coconut (grated)
1 cup jaggery (grated)
one pinch nutmeg
one pinch saffron
1 cup water
2 tsp ghee
1 cup rice flour

Method to Make Modak Recipe


Heat a pan on a flame, add grated coconut and jaggery to it. Stir the mixer for about five minutes. After this mix nutmeg and saffron in it. Cook the mixture again for five minutes. Now remove it from the flame and keep it on the side. To prepare modak, put water and ghee in a deep vessel and boil it. Then add salt and flour to it. Mix well. Cover the pot and leave the mixer to cook.

When the mixture is half cooked, apply some ghee on a steel bowl. Knead lightly hot flour. Now make small round balls. Press light. Prepare its edges in the shape of a flower. Place the prepared stuffing mixture in the center. Close it by adding all four edges. Now place them on a soft cloth. Steam them for about 10 to 15 minutes. Remove and offer it to Lord Ganesha.
